Preventive maintenance and inspections will save your business lost time, wages and productivity.
If you do have a good inspection program implemented, you should recognize the following indicators:
All hours for electrical, mechanical and instrumentation preventive maintenance activities are 6% to 12% of total maintenance hours.
Most work in shut down and routine schedules are the result of early problem detection from preventive maintenance inspections.
There are no unnecessary duplications of preventive maintenance activities between electrical, mechanical, lubrication, and so forth.
The content of the preventive maintenance program is right and you actually perform 100% of programmed preventive maintenance activities.
ü Use natural light whenever possible.
ü Turn off lights when not in use.
ü Use compact fluorescent lights (CFL) instead of incandescent bulbs. A 16-watt CFL produces the same light as a 60-watt incandescent bulb at a quarter of the energy cost.
ü Clean bulbs regularly. Dirt lessens illumination by as much as 50%. Use low wattage light bulbs in areas that do not need strong lighting such as hallways, foyers and doorways.
ü Use lamps that provide direct lighting over desks, beds and other work areas. Using them saves energy instead of the higher wattage lighting used to illuminate the whole room.
